  • Comments Off on Karzai’s assertions on suicide attack: Islamabad asks Kabul to share evidence
Pakistan on Saturday expressed readiness to assist any probe into the Thursday suicide attack in which Afghanistan's intelligence chief Asadullah Khalid was injured. Islamabad also asked Kabul to share evidence before levelling charges against the country.

Reacting sharply against Afghan President Karzai's assertions, the Foreign Office spokesperson said: "Before levelling charges the Afghan government would do well if they share information or evidence with the government of Pakistan that they might have with regard to the cowardly attack on the head of NDS (National Directorate of Security).

Offering assistance in probe into the attack, the spokesperson further said that the Afghan government would also do well by ordering an investigation into any lapses in the security arrangements around the NDS chief, adding on its part the government of Pakistan is ready to assist any investigation of this criminal act.

Earlier, the Afghan government had also accused Pakistan spy agency for its alleged involvement in assassination of former Afghan president and chairman High Peace Council Professor Burhanuddin Rabbani that caused postponement to the process of reconciliation in Afghanistan with key role of Pakistan. In the recent allegations, though President Karzai stopped short of blaming the Pakistani government directly, but came at a time when the two countries have just resumed talks for putting the reconciliation process back on rails when Afghan High Peace delegation visited Islamabad last month.
